COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Foundation is made for me

COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made Foundation

There’s a new foundation in my life that I’ve been choosing to wear more than other favorites like Armani, IT Cosmetics, and The Ordinary. Surprisingly it’s by COVERGIRL, a brand whose foundation is not one I’ve ever tried before. The foundation is TRUBLEND MATTE MADE and it is available in an amazing 40 shades. If you’ve been keeping up with the newest foundations you know that the latest is creating shades for every skin tone. Companies are becoming more inclusive in their shade choices and the world is more than ready for that.

There are quite a few reasons that I’m enjoying TruBlend Matte Made:

*You can find your match for about $8.49 in most stores.

*Covergirl has an 800 number that you can call for help in choosing a shade. 1-800-426-8374 is ready to help you if you know your undertone.

*The foundation is divided into three base shades: L, M, D.

*COVERGIRL TruBlend Matte Made’s “formula is developed with flexi-hold technology that creates a strong, yet flexible film on skin for durability and comfort, while the mattifying powders absorb oil and minimizes pores for a soft matte, flawless finish.”

*Even though it’s a matte formula it can look slightly dewy. It’s not a dry or cakey matte.

*It feels like I’m wearing nothing since it’s so light to the touch. I can build it up but I prefer the light coverage that I get the first time around.

Now let me tell you my personal experience with this. At first I really didn’t care for the foundation. It did look drying on my skin but I kept testing the three shades I was sent and came up with a great application method for my dry skin.

  1. I apply a moisturizing sunscreen and let that dry down.
  2. I then use a blurring primer but only where I really need it – my nose and cheeks.
  3. After shaking the bottle, I pump out a small amount on the back of my hand or on my stainless blending disc.
  4. I dampen a beauty blending sponge and pick up the foundation with it.
  5. Bounce, bounce, bounce until no lines of demarcation show.

That’s it. I end up with a long lasting, well blended foundation that doesn’t make my skin appear dry even after an entire day out. Since that wasn’t the case at first, I’m really glad I kept trying.

The shades I received are L10 (Fair Porcelain), L15 (Porcelain), and L20 (Light Ivory). Turns out that Light Ivory is their lightest shade which surprised me. It’s also the best shade for my fair skin. Porcelain has some peach to it and Fair Porcelain which looked perfect in the bottle is a little yellow for me. I actually can wear all three but the most neutral tone is L20.

When I went on the COVERGIRL site and read reviews I kept seeing one thing often. People were complaining about white dots showing up in the foundation or it feeling sandy. I’ve had the foundations for over 2 months so I know this isn’t a new batch. I’ve never had those problems. With three bottles you’d think I would have experienced that at least once but I’ve had a great experience. My advice is to shake well and use a primer to make this foundation a great one for your skin.  —  Marcia
