If you’re an Ulta shopper you’ve probably noticed that they are carrying a lot of new brands making shopping there a lot more fun. One brand I started exploring is CATRICE which is a European cosmetic company that does not test on animals. Ulta carries a nice selection of the brand’s products though not the full brand.
When shopping one day there was a gwp going on that, of course, spurred me on to buy more. I ended up with 2 mascaras (among a few other items). The first is Better Than False Lashes, the second Ultimate Lash Multimizer Volume. Both of which are volume mascaras. I’ve been wearing them both on and off and have picked my favorite so let’s see which one it is! The first thing I’ll say is that mascaras are so individual and it seems we all have different opinions of the same mascara. What I’m looking for in a mascara is one that doesn’t weigh down my thin lashes. I also like a lot of definition and lengthening. Even though these are volume mascaras I like that too. I just like mascara that makes my lashes look good.
BETTER THAN FALSE EYELASHES ($7.99) was my first choice. I think it’s the name that said “Pick me, I’ll remind you of TF Better Than Sex Mascara”. This mascara is said to offer dramatic volume, sensational length and extreme curl. That description makes this seem like it meets all my criteria.
The brush on BTFE is quite large and made of fibers. I was quite excited to try this since I usually like mascara with this kind of brush. But upon wearing it the first time my reaction was “Eh”. Nice but not special. I didn’t notice any oomph with this. It’s improved a little with age but it’s not one I’ll rebuy.
CATRICE ULTIMATE LASH MULTIMIZER VOLUME MASCARA was my second choice ($7.99) and I’m not sure exactly why I picked this one but I’m really glad I did. The two mascaras don’t seem that different from their descriptions, the difference seems to be the brushes. This Multimizer Volume Mascara has a large elastomer brush that is actually wider than most of the rubber brushes I’ve tried. What this promises is no clumping due to the brush, dramatic volume and perfect definition.
Ultimate Multimizer Volumizer is a winner for my eyes. As much as I thought the description of Better Than False Lashes had everything I wanted in a mascara, I realize that the brush on this Ultimizer is what makes the difference for me. I always use an eyelash curler and the Ultimate Multimizer makes that curl stand up and last. My eyes look instantly enhanced and the curl lasts the day. There’s no smudging, the definition is good as is the price. Right now Ulta has a gwp for a different version of the Ultimate Mulitimizer if you spend $15 on Catrice.
During my Catrice spree I bought a third mascara, Catrice Lashes to Kill Volume Mascara ($5.99). Here’s the description from Ulta: “Catrice Lashes To Kill Ultra Black Mascara is formulated with black diamond powder and carbon pigments to create spectacular volume. The ultra black carbon pigments provide a deeper and more dramatic look with unbelievably thick and perfectly shaped lashes.” This is part of the prize for this giveaway. While this is not sealed, it’s never been opened. The brush appears to be a bristle one and not a rubber one.
In addition to this Catrice mascara, the giveaway will include a new Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara that was in my last Boxycharm box. This is serious volume but there is the chance of clumping with it, with a lash comb you can smooth it out as long as you work fast. This picture is from the Doucce that I use from one of my Wantable boxes.
GIVEAWAY INFORMATION – At last, an international giveaway. Most of our giveaways are US only which we rarely have control over so it’s nice to be able to have one for everyone! The winner will receive a Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara ($24) and Catrice Lashes to Kill Volume Mascara ($5.99) both in black. This giveaway is open through 11/23/15 at 11:59 EST. If comments close you can email me at [email protected] and label it MASCARA. Are you ready to have your eyes opened? — Marcia
