Last week, I told you all about The Organic Skin Co. primer and lip gloss and Marcia shared the 4 Palette that she built. Today I have my 8 Palette that I built with pods from every category, so I have eyes, lips, and cheeks covered.
The Organic Skin Co. is a vegan and organic line that carries both skin care and color cosmetics. Their philosophy is called “One Product One Tree“. Their promise is that for every product you purchase from them they’ll plant a tree. Being concerned with deforestation they have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to reverse deforestation and provide jobs and hopes to local, indigenous communities worldwide. We can help make this dream come true by thinking organic with them.samples
I am really impressed with their products and a standout is the POD system. You start by selecting a palette and then choosing the cosmetics you want to fill it with. A 4 pod palette is $77.50 filled while an 8 pod palette is $136 filled. You can also buy the pods individually to use to fill your palette or to switch products in your current palette. Most of the refills are $21 with some products up to $32.
The 4 Palette is extremely handy and the 8 Palette is twice as nice. I went with 3 pressed eyeshadows and one cream eyeshadow, a concealer, a luminizer, and 2 cheek and lip creams. The 8 Palette gives you lots of options and you can really build a terrific selection for basically a full face. The palette itself is really nice – very sturdy, with strong magnets so no worries about your pods popping out. It has a mirror and closes so securely I am not even paranoid about dropping it.
I chose three of the 10 available Meet the Press pressed eyeshadows. I am super impressed with them…the texture is silky, the pigmentation is excellent, and the calendula and pomegranate make them buttery soft and nourishing for eyelids. I chose Orchid, a medium shimmery pink; Nutmeg, a satin taupe, and Silk, a creamy satin. Silk is my base shade and Nutmeg makes a beautiful lid shade or crease shade. I think my favorite is Orchid, which is the right shade of pink to really complement my brown eyes without too much red, which makes me look like I’ve been crying. And trust me, these eyeshadows make me smile, not cry!
I also chose one The Eyes Have It cream eyeshadow – one of the same ones Marcia chose for her 4 Palette, Cocoa. I was looking for something that was similar to my MAC Quite Natural Paint Pot, and I believe I have found it! Like Marcia I am thrilled with it – the color is perfect and the wear is incredible. I use this almost every day in the crease to define.
I was guessing when I chose Rose Sand Hide and Seek Concealer. There are 8 shades available and I was going back and forth between Rose Sand and Soft Honey. Luckily, Rose Sand is perfect for my light/medium skin. Now, I didn’t have high hopes for this one – I find that palette concealers usually aren’t coverage enough for my dark undereye circles. However, this concealer is fabulous. It really covers and has the perfect texture – not too dry and not too creamy. It’s the bomb.
My In the Spotlight luminizer pod was another nail biter. There are two shades available – Lunar, a white satin shimmer, and Rose Gold, a golden satin shimmer. I ended up choosing Lunar and it’s lovely. It’s a beautiful highlighter and is also fabulous for lips.
My final two pods are the multi-tasking Cheeky Lips, which work as a cream blush and as a lip gloss. Normally, cream blushes don’t last ten minutes on me, but these have some staying power. I like them better as cream blushes than as lippies – the colors are pretty, but I’m not going to be carrying the palette with me all day for refreshing my lips. Velvet is my favorite – a simply stunning raspberry and Petal Perfect is a pretty medium peach. I would love to build a 4 Palette with more shades – there are 7 available and they all look gorgeous.
The Organic Skin Co. has a great system here with their palettes and refillable pods, and the fact that they are also reforesting with each purchase is the icing on the cosmetic cake. Sign up for their emails and you will get a coupon for 10% off your first order! – Lisa
