Besame Mucho

There’s something so luxurious when buying and using Besame Cosmetics. The website is so enticing with the singing birds and the retro styling. You can just feel the passion that the creator, Gabriella Hernandez, has for her products when you log on. The packaging is tiny but adorable. The compacts are gold with red embossed geraniums. Really a pleasure to use and own. But the proof is what’s inside the packaging and that’s where Besame delivers.

My first foray into Besame was with their eyeshadows. My friend, Ammie, told me she had found the perfect brown eyeshadow in Socialite Brown ($14) so of course I had to get that. But I couldn’t buy just one eyeshadow so I picked up a few more that are no longer available. These shadows are fabulous. The pigmentation is beautiful and they blend like a dream. The two I have that are currently available are Socialite Brown and Black Pearl.  Socialite Brown is a great brown with undertones of gold and copper and Black Pearl is a dark charcoal that has a small amount of pearl-like glitter.

Of course I needed a companion for these gorgeous tiny shadows in their gold packaging so a blush came into my life in Sweet Pink ($15) It’s amazing how a little compact (approximately the diameter of a quarter) can pack in that much color. Sweet Pink is a soft mauve pink that I find very easy to wear on my fair skin.

Being eyeliner obsessed I am thrilled to have some of the Masterliner pencils too. There are 3 duos for eyes ($18):

*Kohl & Beige (black with a soft beige for highlighting)

*Brown & Plum

*Emerald & Denim Blue

I have the Brown/Plum combination and the Emerald/Denim Blue one. I get the most use out of the Brown/Plum since those are the primary shades I wear on my eyes. Both are very easy to wear. The colors work beautifully with my collection of eyeshadows. What’s so great about these colors is that they show up on my eyes the way they are supposed to. So often brown and purple show up as black with just an undertone of the actual shade. These are true to color. The Emerald and Denim Blue duo hasn’t gotten quite as much use by me since I don’t wear those shades that often but I find that they bring some life to my eyes especially on the days I’m feeling dull and washed out. I love wearing blue liner with brown shadows. I think it makes the whites of my eye look brighter. You can easily smudge these when you put them on but once they set they really last and are water resistant. Besame liners (whether lip or eye) are retractable so no sharpening is necessary. (Sorry about the darkness of the picture but this was the only one that the color showed up on.)

Besame mucho means “kiss me a lot” and I’m happy to “kiss” my Besame products each day that they grace my face. — Marcia
