The Beauty Spotlight Team spotlights Marcia of Beauty Info Zone

Every other week the Beauty Spotlight Team spotlights one of our bloggers with a special post. Well this week it’s my turn and I couldn’t be more excited. You see I’ve done a total turnaround in my cosmetic color life. I used to be the PURPLE QUEEN! I had every purple eyeshadow I could get my hands on. I lived and breathed purple for eyes. Then I started adding in browns and taupes but I still would always say that purple was “my thing”. And then this came into my life:

When it arrived from Zuneta I was excited when I saw this but didn’t realize that my life was about to change. Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird looked like a golden green on my eyes and totally captivated me. I wanted to wear it all day every day. I didn’t want to remove my eye makeup. But being the obsessive eyeshadow person that I am, I not only removed it but I started shopping. Since I purchased the RBR I’ve also purchased what is now making up my Top Ten Khaki/Green eyeshadow list (and it was hard to narrow it down to 10).

1. As stated above Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird eyeshadow – this started the obsession

2. Bare Minerals The Scenic Route – this has more green to it but it’s still a khaki on me. I adore this when wearing Rouge Bunny Rouge Velvet Frippery cream shadow as a base.

3. and 4.  Inglot 419 and 433 – to say I’m crazy about these would be an understatement. They are beautiful on and each give me a slightly different look. They both have green and gold in them. 419 has more of a green tone while 433 is more khaki. Satiny smooth and long lasting. These are the best Inglot textures of the many I own.

5. and 6.  Urban Decay Snare and MAC Greensmoke – these look really similar in my pictures but they are different. Snare is more green while Greensmoke is more smokey. Snare is also more sparkly. I’m more likely to use the Urban Decay at night and the MAC during the day.

7. and 8. Makeup Geek Poison Ivy and Senna Fixation – two beautiful green shadows. Poison Ivy is light while the Senna is deep and a gorgeous green with sparkle. I saw Fixation when I was shopping at IMATS and immediately scooped it up. These two work beautifully together.

9. Whip Hand Green Beret pigment – while I’m still using my small one that I bought from Beauty Army, I want the full size one. Whip Hand did a special Camo Collection for Beauty Army. I love all of them but this one is green with gold. It’s lighter than the rest and looks great on its own or combined with other shadows or pigments.

10. Rouge Bunny Rouge Velvet Frippery – now this has a story. I was so sorry I bought this when I did and here it is on my Top 10 list. Don’t buy it if you are looking for a great green eyeshadow because it’s not. What makes me love it is that I use it as a base with different colors – especially Bare Minerals The Scenic Route and the two Inglot khakis and it makes them look 10x better. For some reason this dull sort of green brings out the best in them. I don’t use a thick layer and I use a real eyeshadow primer first but with that combination I get color that doesn’t fade or change for the entire day.

  1. Great article. I think of green as crayon green which I’m not comfortable wearing but these are different and beautiful. I love that one eyeshadow changed your world.

  2. These are so gorgeous– every last one of them! I am not at all surprised that it was Abyssinian Catbird that forever changed your life. It was the first RBR e/s that I ever purchased, and after buying it I became a total brand loyalist! What a beautiful and inspiring post. Thanks for the new lemmings!!!!!!!

Thanks Lola. I love Abyssinian Catbird and it really did change my taste. It remains my favorite RBR eyeshadow.

  4. Abyssinian Catbird was a paradigm shifter for me too. I haven’t worn it in far too long, but am going to pull it out and start wearing it again. It is spectacularly beautiful, and it is so complex and rich. I really loved this post so much (my wallet is crying though)!!!

  5. beautyin says:

@Lola, it’s a little intense for summer days but not for summer nights.

  6. What a lovely range, I have to say that RBR AC is one of my favs as well :)

  7. beautyin says:

Thanks Replica. I know there are a lot of beauty bloggers that are in love with Abyssinian Catbird. I didn’t expect to fall so hard though.

  8. Gorgeous! I am not really into these colors either, maybe I need to try that RBR and see if it changes my mind too!

  9. beautyin says:

@jbrobeck – just don’t get obsessed like me! Of all of these I’d highly recommend the RBR and the Bare Minerals. Although I’m crazy about the Inglot too. I’m just crazy actually!

  10. We have a similar story! I used to actually dislike green on me and was also a self-proclaimed purple queen. A few browns and taupes later, I can’t get enough of ze green! Great picks. :) The Scenic Route was my first bareMinerals duo!

  11. beautyin says:

@Carina – I love that we are on the same path. If you haven’t tried the Inglot or RBR then I really recommend them.

  12. …but, but, but….purple?!

These look gorgeous on you. :)

  13. beautyin says:

@londonmakeupgirl – I knew you’d be shocked! You knew me when purple was my life!!

  14. These are all beautiful! MAC Patina is a great color too, much prettier on, than in the package! It really brings out that “gold fleck” in the eyes!

  15. beautyin says:

@Carol, I need to find MAC Patina in my stash. I didn’t used to like it but now with my new obsession I’ll pull it out.

  16. I love following Marcia’s blog. She gives me a true sense of the item she reviews. I’m swooning over all these greens.

  17. beautyin says:

@Kimberly – you are my new best friend. Thank you so much for making my night.

  18. Abyssinian Catbird is one of my favorites :)

  19. I love making looks with green and khaki! Those are some pretty choices!

  20. What a great post idea. Thank you for sharing! xx

  21. Yes I love a great khaki on all eye colors, but the golden sheen is my favorite, Looks beautiful!

  22. beautyin says:

Thanks so much Cheryl. I love these golden sheens in khakis too.

  23. I adore Marlena, and must try some of the shadows! I, too, am a purple addict. I have also been experimenting with green/khaki! Love your swatches, and will try some of them. May start with Marlena’s. Will definitely do a post on my faves. Thank you for the inspiration :)

  24. beautyin says:

Thanks Karen. I hope you’ll email me with your post. I’d love to see it and maybe add a few more purples or khakis to the collection.
