Makeup Wars takes on BB Creams – Beauty Info Zone picks…

Makeup Wars has put me through the paces lately. They enticed me with taupe eyeshadow and got me hooked. Next they made us do a $20 challenge which actually was a blast. On to favorite summer lippie – easy peasy! After that we did our most expensive face – who knew I could put together a face worth over $1,600 just by opening drawers? I loved doing my favorite makeup brush and my favorite fall nail polish. I also loved putting together a fall look and got out those beautiful green eyeshadows. But then they started pushing me – favorite red lipstick from a woman who doesn’t really wear red lips; Halloween nail art which was a total disaster. But they’ve won me back with BB Creams. I own BB Creams as you can see from the picture below. I think they are the perfect solution to having a finished face for me in the summer. Of course now I have to pick a favorite. Let’s see if I can do that.  It’s going to be hard because I really like all the BB Creams I’ve tried. There’s something positive about all of them and none have let me down. I did have to give away the Boscia to my blog partner since the color was too dark for me and better suited to her skin.

All my BB creams (it’s supposed to look like a B)

Here’s my collection in ABC order so as not to play favorites yet:

3Lab BB Cream  *

Boscia BB Cream (not pictured)

Embryolisse Secret de Maquilleurs BB Cream

Holika & Holika Peach Girl BB Cream

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream

3Lab, Holika & Holika Peach Girl, Embryollise, Lioele

Marcelle BB Cream Beauty Balm  *

Missha M Perfect Color

Senna Barely Base  *

Skin 79 Super+ Beblesh Balm

Marcelle, Missha, Senna, Skin79

As far as favorites go, I have to pick 3Lab since it’s just amazing. They are known for their amazing skincare so when you put that together with SPF40/PA+++ and beautiful coverage you have a winner.

3Lab Perfect BB Cream

The problem is that most people won’t pay $95 for a foundation or a BB Cream even if it does do everything. I will pay that so the price doesn’t bother me. But I wanted to also pick a less expensive BB cream as a choice (plus I’m indecisive). That one was a very hard choice since most of these perform the same.

After retesting all of these the second favorite is Skin 79 Super+ Beblesh Balm.  (Missha M was sosoclose to winning!)

SKIN79 VIP Gold Collection Super BB Cream

This starts out gray on me and has a slight fragrance but within minutes it melds with my skin giving me great light coverage that doesn’t melt away with the first sign of heat. At $14.69 with free shipping via Amazon it is a bargain. The SPF factor isn’t as good as the 3Lab (it’s SPF25/PA++) but the coverage is almost as good.

If you have the money and want perfection then try 3Lab, if you want to try a BB Cream and don’t know where to start then try the SKIN 79 or Missha M.

Makeup Wars favorites: 3Lab and Skin79

Now tell me  – what have I skipped that needs to get added to my collection? Curious minds want to know. — Marcia

Comments

  1. I agree! I love Skin 79, and with the US brands, I also love 3Lab!

  2. 3LAB is totally phenomenal. I was impressed with the Missha as well, though I do need to get a different shade to try it out for the long haul!

  3. I love when you do these challenges. I haven’t tried these. I heard though that Jane Iredale was nice but expensive.

  4. Another Skin79 as a favorite? Wow! I am certainly missing out.

  5. We are skin sisters! I love both the 3LAB and the Skin79!

  6. I chose 3LAB too Marcia and wow, the Skin79 is getting a lot of Makeup War love–must try it!

  7. Cindy, the price of the Skin79 is great. It has a slight fragrance but I don’t even care since it’s so great. You should try that sample pack that Carleen wrote about. That seems the way to go.

  8. Jbrobeck, I knew you’d pick Skin79, I just knew it. 3Lab is the best US one I’ve tried by far while Skin79 and Missha are great Asian ones.

  9. Teri, three of us picked it! That says something.

  10. If you are going to spend a lot try the 3Lab. I can’t rave about it enough.

  11. I do love the 3Lab, I’m not going to lie, but I don’t reach for it often because of the price point. I’m going to have to try the Skin 79, though.

  12. I’ve not tried the Skin 79, but it really looks nice. Will have to check out that line!

  13. Wow, 3 Lab gets another vote on MUWars! I wish that it had worked for me (but not a good color match). Oh well! I am completely intrigued by Skin 79 and will for sure pick some up. What a great price on that one!

  14. I would be better with a lighter color but after a while it blends in. None of mine are perfect at first, they all need a few minutes to look right.

  15. The reason I use it is that I’m worried the SPF will expire. But with as many as I own it really is just in rotation.

  16. Nancy, 3 of us picked Skin79 so it’s worth looking into.

  17. I see everyone talking about 3Lab, but I am one of those people who just couldn’t justify the $95 unless it found a way to apply itself in the morning !:P

  18. Love this post– So helpful for a BB cream newbie like me. I’m ordering the Skin79 now.

  19. I am really liking my Smashbox. It doesn’t make my combination skin feal greasy or heavy under foundation, it lasts and doesn’t slide off, and the colour matches my skintone. I really love their green colour correcting primer as well.

  20. I had a sample of the Smashbox but the color was so wrong. I’ll have to ask for the right shade at Sephora. Thanks for the suggestion.

  8. [...] I picked Skin79 VIP too. It goes on totally gray on me and then magically blends in seamlessly. I paid about $15 for my huge jar of it but I’d have definitely tried your sample pack if I’d seen it. Good choice!!
