I’ve always thought that the ultimate high-end beauty line was Orlane. Every time I am in Saks or Neiman’s, I stop at the counter and marvel at the cool minimalist packaging and the fabulously chic products. Orlane sent their Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub ($65) to try, and I couldn’t wait to see if it would magically turn me into a gorgeous French model with perfect legs.
Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub is a shower gel that does three things: detoxifies, exfoliates, and reduces the appearance of cellulite. Marine algae is an emollient as well as an antioxidant. The sea salt is an exfoliant and it’s small enough grains to not irritate my skin. The caffeine and ginger are anti-inflammatory ingredients that actually constrict the skin, which help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
The texture of the scrub is described as an “iron fist in a velvet glove”, which I have officially adopted as my ‘mom’ motto. Warm water releases the exfoliants and other ingredients, and the scent is wonderful – just like you would imagine a Parisian spa would smell. To get the best results, don’t be afraid to really pummel yourself while scrubbing. Vigorous massage and hot water followed by a quick blast of cold water gets the best results.
I guess it’s easy to figure out how this story ends – no I have not magically become a gorgeous French model with perfect legs. Nevertheless, my short, somewhat dimply and definitely not perfect legs look better when I use my Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub…and I certainly feel pampered. It is as close as I can come to relaxing in a spa in Paris. So if it’s in your budget to go Parisian in your shower, this is a great little indulgence. – Lisa
