I was sent their TRY IT ALL in a BAG set that is an exciting way to discover some of their line. It contains 14 nicely sized sample products inside a wonderful cosmetic bag created by BROMS.the.poet. For me this was an excellent way to try their products, mostly because almost everything is fragranced.

GLOW for a cause CARRY IT ALL BAG (bag)

The CARRY IT ALL BAG ($16) can be bought separately as can the TRY IT ALL SAMPLES ($12) or you can buy the set TRY IT ALL in a BAG ($24).

There are 10 Body Butters that GLOW for a cause manufacturers and each can be bought separately but for me the delight is in having the opportunity to sniff out all of these to see what I like best. In alphabetical order here they are:

  1. CALM:  fresh lavender and warm vanilla, a sultry scent
  2. DREAM:  a bouquet of flowers with a warm woody base, it’s a soft floral scent
  3. EMBRACE:  blend of white amber, ginger, brown sugar and coconut with a subtle note of rich vanilla and musk, this is one of my personal favorites even though I wasn’t sure about the musk at first
  4. INNOCENCE:  delicate sweetness of berries and flowers with a twist of almond, a little bit of every good scent that Glow says is like Paris in the spring
  5. INSPIRE:   vibrant blend of florals and a dash of sunny citrus, I love this because of the natural citrus that comes through
  6. NATURAL:  unscented so of course this is the one I tried first to check out the richness and luxurious feel of these body butters
  7. REFRESH:  eucalyptus, spearmint and bergamot mix, I love the spearmint in this, it’s not a typical fragrance in bath/body products
  8. VIBE: “the vibrant mix of red berries, honey and bergamot are rounded out by a blend of vanilla, clove, sandalwood and the luscious twist of citrus zests.”, this is such a delightful scent that isn’t typical at all, highly recommended
  9. WANDER:  Bergamot and jasmine are grounded by spicy florals and an earthy undertone of sandalwood, incense and vanilla. Floral and spice and sandalwood stand out most to me.
  10. WISH:  light florals, white tea, and bergamot grounded by light musks; delightfully sweet and not overwhelming

These body butters are very rich without being sticky. They absorb nicely and last a good amount of time. Most of these would take the place of wearing fragrance in my opinion. They are Paraben Free, Phthalate Free, Cruelty Free, and made in the USA.

The ingredients are amazing and you can tell from them what purity you are using.

In addition to the moisturizers there’s a scrub and facial mask. FACIAL CLAY SCRUB in Ylang Ylang and Lime is lightly fragranced with 100% pure ylang ylang essential oil and the crisp notes of lime.  It contains Australian clay and apricot exfoliants that don’t hurt sensitive skin. I find it washes off easily with a wash cloth.

Otherworldly skin with the magic of Wild Arctic Cloudberries! Lumene Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum

Cloudberry.  It just sounds delightful, doesn’t it? These little orange berries look like tiny clusters of clouds.  Yes, they are tiny, but they pack a massive antioxidant punch because they have twice the amount of vitamin C as oranges.  Lumene has taken this rare Lapland treasure and turned Wild Arctic Cloudberries into a truly delightful vitamin C serum, the Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum (24.99/1 Fl. Oz. and $12.99/0.5 Fl. Oz.).

I take really good care of my skin and I avoid sun exposure.  I use SPF every single day.  I don’t know if it is just because I am getting older or not, but no matter how careful I am I still end up with a more uneven skin tone at the end of the season.  I guess it’s time to break out that vitamin C!

Vitamin C is one of the best skin care ingredients available.  It addresses multiple signs of aging, soothes skin, and brightens a dull complexion.  Basically, it is a kick ass antioxidant that actually protects your skin from all the nasty stressors in the environment.  The cloudberry mixture in the Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum has vitamin A, C, E and fatty acids with an extra dose of stabilized bio-available Vitamin C.

Not all vitamin C products are equal, though.  To keep the efficacy of the ingredient, the packaging needs to be right because exposure to light or air will destabilize this antioxidant and render it completely ineffective.  Packaging needs to opaque and it needs to restrict any exposure to air.  Lumene’s Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum has a terrific packaging, with a bright orange opaque bottle and an air-restrictive dropper.

Vitamin C is terrific, but it’s even better if it is paired with another top of the line skin care ingredient.  The Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum is a concentrated mixture of Wild Arctic Cloudberry and Vitamin C, along with Pure Arctic Spring Water and two types of Hyaluronic Acid.  Hyaluronic Acid is simply fabulous for skin, holding about 1,000 times its own weight in water, so it hydrates and plumps skin like crazy.  Plus, the antioxidant properties fight environmental stressors and lessens wrinkles while also increasing a smooth texture.  The duo of Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid is a truly superior combo for maximum results.

The Lumene Glow Boost Essence Serum is a light, nonsticky serum that soaks in quickly.  It smells pretty incredible – like a very yummy and fresh citrus.  I find that it gives very quick results, so if you are impatient you will be happy!  My skin has a more even tone, looks bright and glowy, and is plumped and smoothed.  And the price point is fantastic!

Lumene Glow Boost Essence Serum is made with all naturally derived ingredients and is 100% vegan, gluten-free, paraben free and cruelty free.  You can find this delightfully sunny serum at Target and CVS.  – Lisa

The unicorn of beauty products: Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm

“I want my company to have a heart.”~Linda Treska, Founder

I love this quote. If only all companies felt this way…just think of what a difference it would make in the world. Linda Tresker is the founder of Pinch of Colour, a beauty company whose mission is to positively impact the world through philanthropy, sustainability and community. Pinch of Colour is unlike any other beauty line because it is the world’s first waterless beauty brand. Why no water? Growing up, Linda experienced water scarcity and she is acutely aware of the growing water crises in the world. She wanted to create amazing products that helped the planet by conserving water – and she has succeeded.

Pinch of Colour is very successful in showing us all that any business is capable of serving the highest good of everyone. From the website:  Since its launch in 2016, Pinch of Colour has partnered with Healing Waters Organization, Clean Water for Children, Ekenywa and participated in global events for World Water Day in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Pinch of Colour also partners with Blue Angel Charity, a 501C3 non-profit organization co-founded by Linda to honor her father.

Pinch of Colour is an inspiration for both its vision and its excellent beauty products. I have been testing the Honey Glow Waterless Balm ($35) and can’t wait to tell you all about it.

The Honey Glow Waterless Balm is a multi-tasking balm that gives your complexion a beautiful, youthful glow. It comes in a twist-up tube and is, of course, waterless. Without water, the formula has even more ingredients that skin loves like botanicals and extracts. The balm has no parabens and is cruelty-free.

Honey is a terrific ingredient for skin thanks to its amino acid, peptide, antioxidant, and antibacterial composition. Honey not only has fantastic antioxidant properties, it also helps heal wounds and it creates a protective and soothing barrier on skin. That makes it sound like this balm sits on top of the skin, but it actually melts in and leaves a beautiful golden highlight that is slightly dewy. Oh and it smells absolutely delicious, like vanilla bean infused honey.

The Honey Glow Waterless Balm not only highlights, it also primes skin for makeup and provides moisture courtesy of the shea butter based formula. Other ingredients include camellia oil (an excellent antioxidant and skin-soother thanks to the polyphenols) and vitamin E (another potent antioxidant).

Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm heavily swatched

Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm normal application

Since I have an oily t-zone I typically stay away from anything that is supposed to make me ‘dewy’ – I shine enough as it is, thank you very much. Also, creamy products never seem to last more than 10 minutes on me because my skin quickly absorbs them. However, I am absolutely in love – maybe even obsessed – with the Honey Glow Waterless Balm. The balm is soft and silky, not sticky, and it makes my skin feel fabulous. It also makes skin look great – the creamy golden honey tint is what Pinch of Colour calls the ‘unicorn of beauty products’ because the shade is so universal it looks good on every skin tone.

I love using the Honey Glow Waterless Balm on my lips for hydration and a pretty golden shimmer (and it tastes AMAZING!). I also use it on my cheeks for a lovely glow that really lasts and it is gorgeous on the decolletage. It is a yummy, beautiful, good for you lippie/highlighter that is also good for the planet.

You can find Pinch of Colour online at and at Anthropologie in the US.  The BIZ has a few more Pinch of Colour reviews in the works, so stay tuned for even more waterless fun!  – Lisa

The delicious way to glowy skin: drink your adaptogens with Moodbeli

Moodbeli Ceremony Cloud

Every so often I feel like my health and beauty routine needs a reset. I want a fresh start, so I reflect on what has been working for me, and what needs some work. Now that the weather is getting wet and cold I am switching to indoor workouts until spring so I have started to work with a personal trainer every week. And I met with a nutritionist to go through my eating habits and come up with a plan to actively and mindfully pursue wellness. One thing my nutritionist emphasized was the importance of adaptogens, plants that help your body deal with the physical and environmental stress we experience every day. He said that because adaptogens support antioxidant and immune health benefits, they give you amazing, glowy skin. I’m hooked.

Moodbeli Ceremony Cloud

There are many foods that contain adaptogens, and they range from herbs to mushrooms. Products that feature them come in powder form that is used to make tea or a tincture, or you can add the powder to coffee, smoothies, soups, or oatmeal. You can also add it to juice or even just plain water.

Moodbeli is a company that specializes in adaptogen powders.  They describe adaptogens as: plants and mushrooms that help the body adapt to physical, environmental and emotional stress. Moodbeli products blend adaptogens with organic botanics, spices, and minerals to make it easy to add stress-relieving ingredients to your daily rituals.

An ingredient is considered an adaptogen in herbalism if: 1) it is safe and non-toxic, 2) it builds adaptive energy in the body, and 3) it has a balancing influence on our physiology. Using adaptogens daily over time can have a profound impact on overall well-being and health.

I have been testing two products from Moodbeli that together make the Ceremony Cloud set:  Cloud Powder and Ceremony Tonic. The set is $53, a nice deal since purchased separately the two products would cost $63. I figured that the powders were going to be really good for me…and they probably didn’t taste bad, but probably didn’t taste very good, either. I was right – and I was wrong!  Here’s the scoop.

Cloud Powder (purchased separately $28) is a dairy-free creamer powder. Even though dairy isn’t very friendly to my digestion I have a major creamer addiction that I never thought I would be able to kick. However, Cloud Powder is an INCREDIBLE creamer! I cannot believe how amazing it tastes…so creamy and yummy yet it is sugar-free, dairy-free, Vegan, paleo, gluten-free, organic, and has no added sweeteners.

It’s billed as a perfect addition to any of the Moodbeli adaptogen blends like their Calming Adaptogen or Mushroom Adaptogen blends. You can just combine a scoop of the Cloud Powder with 1 teaspoon of any Moodbeli blends for an instant, creamy, sugar and dairy-free adaptogenic coconut latte. Cloud Powder is made with organic coconut and tocos, which are fluffy rice bran solubles. I love the vanilla ice cream taste – you can actually eat this right from a spoon and it does have a cloud-like texture – and I also love that it gives me super healthy and glowy skin. It has tons of vitamins E, D, and biotin from the tocos, as well as magnesium, calcium, and vitamin C. It hydrates your body, balances your electrolyte levels, and heals skin from the inside out.

Cloud Powder adds sweetness although it doesn’t have any sweetener in it, so I have been able to take my daily Sweet & Low consumption level down to zero. I have tried Cloud Powder so many ways – it really is an incredibly versatile product. So far, I love it in coffee, tea, smoothies, sprinkled on fresh-cut fruit, and added into pancake mix. It’s light and fluffy. It’s sweet but in a natural way, not a chemical/fake/overly sweet way. It instantly dissolves in whatever I put it in, from hot to cold liquids. With 50 servings per jar, Cloud Powder is a great dairy alternative that doesn’t hurt the wallet.

Cloud Powder takes care of my sweetener and dairy needs, but I have another addiction to tackle…chocolate. My rescue is Ceremony Tonic (purchased separately $35), a blend inspired by the ingredients that have been used in ceremonies for centuries. It is meant to inspire focus, mindfulness, and shared ceremony, something that I have always loved and appreciated.  The blend includes raw cacao, which has iron, magnesium, calcium and antioxidants and is a natural mood elevator; matcha green tea, which has l-theanine, a nutrient that increases concentration and focusing power while simultaneously calming you; maca root, which improves mood, energy, and skin; and Himalayan pink salt, which supports nutrient absorption and has tons of essential minerals, while also balancing electrolytes and pH.

Ceremony Tonic tastes like cocoa – not overly grassy from the matcha, but more chocolaty from the cacao with a slight caramel note from the maca. It takes a little more mixing than the Cloud Powder and in fact I have found that using a whisk gets great results quickly. I love it in my coffee, tea, smoothies, and added to any powder mix like pancakes or cookies. It also tastes great in hot water. Here’s the recipe I typically use in the evening, when I take twenty minutes to sit quietly and meditate:

Instant Ceremony

2 teaspoons of Moodbeli’s Ceremony Tonic
3/4 cup hot (but not boiling) water
1/4 teaspoon of your favorite sweetener (optional – I add a scoop of Cloud Powder)

Add Ceremony Tonic to the bottom of your cup or tea bowl. Pour hot (but not boiling) water into your tonic vessel to cover the bottom and stir until combined, then slowly add more water until you reach your desired potency.

Ceremony Tonic also has 50 servings per jar and if you buy the combo Ceremony Cloud set you save $10. I find that Ceremony Tonic definitely does great things for my mood and whenever I need extra focus or energy I use this instead of turning to caffeine.

I am very, very excited about the Ceremony Cloud set from Moodbeli and I really want to try some of the other adaptogen blends like the Mushroom Adaptogen. Apparently, it doesn’t taste like mushrooms – it tastes like rich cocoa. It does lots of good things for your body, including enhancing aerobic capacity and improving cellular energy stores.

Why not do a reset with me? Check out the cool stuff that Moodbeli has, either at their website or at their Amazon store.  – Lisa

Cloud Powder ingredients:  Organic rice bran (United States), coconut milk powder (Vietnam), organic coconut water powder (Indonesia), tapioca dextrin (United States).

Ceremony Tonic Ingredients:  Organic raw cacao (Peru), Organic matcha (China), Organic maca (Peru), Pink salt (Pakistan).

Get your vitamins with Lumene Nordic-C Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist

Take your vitamins! They help you feel better and look better. The vitamins that are in your skin care products are especially important for the health of your skin. One of my favorite skin care ingredients is Vitamin C, because it’s probably the best researched one and it’s an incredibly effective vitamin that you can apply topically. Lumene’s Nordic-C Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist ($14.99 at Target) lets you reap all the benefits of Vitamin C while also giving yourself a nice cool refreshing boost.

sample, affiliate links

Vitamin C gives love to your skin in lots of ways. It soothes irritation, brightens your complexion, and does tons of skin restoration as an antioxidant so with faithful use you will look younger. Lumene has combined the wonder powers of Vitamin C with an Arctic spring water spray mist that hydrates and refreshes. Another great antioxidant in the Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist is wild Arctic cloudberry, so every time you spray you really get your antioxidant on! Wild Arctic cloudberry has vitamins A and E, essential Omega Fatty Acids, and is a source of natural Vitamin C, so it brightens and energizes the skin.

Lumene’s Nordic-C Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist

My pet peeve with facial sprays is overly thick droplets. I want a fine mist…no, actually I want a SUPER fine mist. Otherwise it messes up my makeup, and who wants to deal with that noise? I think that the Lumene Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist has the finest mist of any that I have ever tried. It is wonderful. The bottle is substantial, but still portable so you can throw it in your purse for the day. Such a godsend for anyone dealing with hot flashes!

Lumene’s Nordic-C Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist

The scent is lovely, light but orangey, a refreshing citrus. It leaves skin hydrated, soft, and glowy. I use it for a moisturizing boost before applying my skin care products, or else after – it doesn’t affect makeup because it isn’t oily or over wet. It kind of sets your makeup, and spritzing it on throughout the day refreshes your skin as well as your cosmetics. If you happen to live in a really dry climate, you will be thrilled with it – I am anticipating that it will become my best friend once Michigan gets cold and the dry indoor heat is constantly blowing.

I am loving the Lumene Glow Refreshing Hydrating Mist – next time you are at Target, pick some up and give your face some vitamins!  – Lisa

Get ready to bare arms and legs with SALT by Hendrix Body Glow!

Summer is the time to bare arms – and legs! – body parts that may not have seen the light of day for many months.  Keeping cool may not look very cool with splotchy, dull skin, and SALT by Hendrix has some beautiful solutions for you.  There are three different versions of Body Glow that you can indulge in, body oils that feature different types of radiance and highlight to turn your ugly stepsister skin into princess beautiful with one swipe.

Oh, and while you are looking at the Body Glows check out other products because SALT by Hendrix is a plant-based beauty love fest.

Ahhhhh….I feel great every time I just read that!!

SALT by Hendrix Body Glow in Blush Skies

Ok, back to business.  I tried out two of the Body Glows…the one I haven’t tried is the Blush Skies Body Glow ($49) which looks divine, like it will give sallow skin a beautiful shimmery rosy glow.  Here are the two types I did test:

SALT by Hendrix Body Glow in Golden Hour

BODY GLOW – GOLDEN HOUR ($49.00) is a bronzing body oil that is wonderfully hydrating and great for skin.  The oil is and incredible concoction of Camellia Oil, Coconut Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, Baobab Oil, and Orange Sweet Oil – what a treat for skin!!  The scent is delightful, a light sweet aroma of jasmine.  The glow is a soft tan with golden glimmer…it looks very natural and not glittery or sparkly, so this is great for daytime or nighttime.

It has just enough color to even out skin tone for those with up to medium skin tones.  Any darker and you will enjoy the glow, but won’t see any tanning effect.  The mica settles to the bottom so you have to shake this up well before application, and the dropper makes it easy to apply without getting oil everywhere.  I love this – it’s more subtle than Nars Monoi Body Glow both in application and scent, so I definitely prefer it over the Nars.

SALT by Hendrix Body Glow in Shining Star

BODY GLOW – SHINING STAR ($49.00) has the exact same beautiful body oil mixture as Golden Hour, just a different scent and different glow power.  The scent for Shining Star is summery Neroli, which is a light, sweet floral with just a hint of citrus.

The glow is a lovely opalescence that gives skin a beautiful youthfulness.  It lends a golden tone to skin mixed with a bit of silver, and the effect is truly lovely!  I put this on my arms, chest, and legs and it evens out my skin tone, masks any blue or green veins, and reflects enough light to hide most imperfections.  It isn’t disco ball shimmery so I feel completely comfy wearing it during the day, yet it does catch the light so it’s fun to wear at night too.

The Body Glows are super fun products that smell great and definitely perform as highlighters.  I am loving these and keep them right next to my shorts and short sleeve shirts!

I previously reviewed the Coconut Elixir Cream and Flowers in Your Hair I can definitely say that I am completely smitten with SALT by Hendrix.  You can find SALT by Hendrix at hip stores like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, as well as at their own online store at  – Lisa

Natural exfoliants for glowy skin from OzNaturals

Oz Naturals Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant and Glycolic Micro Peel

If you want glowing skin, you’ve got to exfoliate.  Clearing away dead skin cells not only makes for brighter skin, it also helps your skin care products work better and increases their efficacy.  I am always on the lookout for excellent exfoliants that aren’t too rough on my rather sensitive skin.  OzNaturals has two exfoliating products that are great on their own, but really make a dynamic duo – the Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant and the Glycolic Micro Peel.

samples, affiliate links

Oz Naturals Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant

Oz Naturals Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant

The Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant ($21.99) is a powder exfoliating scrub that becomes a scrubbing paste when water is added.  You rub this all over cleansed skin – face, neck, decolletage – and let it sit for a few minutes so the ingredients can sink in.  Then, rinse off.  The bamboo, panthenol, and lactic acid exfoliates skin, removing dead skin cells and any clogged dirt and oil.  Skin is left refreshed and ready for treatments.

Uneven skin tone is diminished
Skin texture is smoother, reflecting light and appearing younger
Makeup glides on more smoothly
Redness is reduced
Pores appear smaller
Acne and breakouts are reduced
Dry skin retains moisture better

What makes this different from other powder exfoliators is this one is an enzyme based exfoliator.  The enzymes give immediate results and help all the ingredients absorb more easily.

Lactic Acid – This alpha hydroxy acid gently exfoliates, while hydrating and brightening an uneven skin tone.

Vitamin B5 – Acts as a humectant to attract and hold moisture in the skin.

Green Tea Extract – Contains polyphenols which can prevent damage from UV light and other environmental hazards.

This is an extremely gentle exfoliator – the scrubbies are super effective but aren’t too rough on my skin at all.  I can’t believe how soft and smooth this leaves my skin!  I love a powder exfoliator because the shelf life is so long, and even though this is very gentle it is wonderfully effective.  You can use this every day.  I add a little bit into my cleanser and make it an exfoliating cleanser!

To really get glowing skin, I am loving what happens when I also use the OzNaturals Glycolic Micro Peel.

Oz Naturals Glycolic Micro Peel

Oz Naturals Glycolic Micro Peel

An excellent treatment for skin, the Glycolic 30% Medium Strength Micro Peel ($19.95) is a terrific way to follow an exfoliating treatment.  Glycolic acid reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, plus it reduces the size of your pores and evens out skin tone.  This is actually more exfoliation, since glycolic acid dissolves dead skin cells and promotes new skin.

The glycolic acid comes from sugar cane, and it’s the smallest alpha hydroxy molecule.  It exoliates the top layer of the skin as you leave it on for one to four minutes.  You can use this every 14 days for up to 8 treatments, and after that once every 30 days.  Also, don’t just use this on your face – try it on your neck, your hands, your legs, or anywhere you want super smooth and glowing skin.

This is definitely some serious skin care.  Here are the directions for use:  Cleanse & dry skin. DO NOT EXFOLIATE OR USE TONER. Create a neutralizer by mixing 1 cup water & 2 Tbsp. baking soda. Apply peel evenly to face avoiding eyes and lips. Allow to sit for 1-4 minutes depending on skin tolerance before applying neutralizing solution. Rinse skin with cool water and pat dry with soft cloth.

I found my skin tolerated this extremely well, although your mileage may vary and you may need to adjust your usage accordingly.  I did find that I needed to ease back on my retinol skin care products for a day or two after a treatment.  Also, be sure to use a sunscreen every day for 7 days after a glycolic treatment.

The Ancient Orient Bamboo Dermafoliant and the Glycolic Acid Peel have given me some seriously glowy skin!  You can find these two products and all kinds of other great stuff at OzNaturals online at  – Lisa

Glycolic Acid Peel Ingredients:  Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycolic Acid, Propanediol, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenylpro, Caprylyl Glycol.
